BRUSSELS: The meeting, held in the Belgian capital, covered a range of issues aimed at facilitating smoother access for Omani fish farming companies into the European Union. At the top of the agenda was ensuring that Omani-farmed fish products meet EU export standards, a necessary step for tapping into one of the world’s largest consumer markets.
The two sides also reviewed the European “Traces” platform, a digital system designed to simplify the issuance of electronic veterinary health certificates required for exports to EU countries. This system, expected to speed up certification processes, aligns with Oman’s goal of making its fish products more competitive globally.
Additionally, the delegations discussed adjustments to the current customs tariffs on Omani fish exports.
