MUSCAT : In cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, the General Secretariat of the Tender Board has announced the awarding of 7 vital projects valued at more than RO 119 million. These projects include: the construction of five bridges on the dual carriageway (Sohar – Al Buraimi), the implementation of the dualization of the (Izki – Nizwa) road, the completion of the (Al Ubaylah – Al Faiyad) road, the dualization of the (Raysut – Al Mughsayl) road, the upgrade of the Saih Qatnah road, the design and construction of the Aqabat A’afri and Al Saqari roads, and the construction of the Saih Al Khairat – Al Shasr road.
These projects are part of the Ministry’s ongoing plans to enhance the road network in the Sultanate, aiming to improve the quality of roads to ensure high traffic safety, while also supporting tourism, trade, and social development across various governorates.

The Ministry has awarded the project for the construction of five bridges on the Sohar – Al Buraimi dual carriageway at a total cost of RO 6 million. The project involves rebuilding five bridges on the existing road to ensure road users’ safety and maintain the efficiency of the road network, which supports the region’s economic activity. Additionally, the project includes installing metal and concrete barriers, as well as road markings in accordance with the Oman Road Design Manual of 2017. The project is scheduled to be completed in 18 months, with an additional 45 days for preparatory work.
Izki – Nizwa
As part of the Ministry’s efforts to enhance road quality, support tourism, reduce traffic congestion, and improve traffic flow on main roads, the dualization of the Izki – Nizwa road has been awarded at a total cost of RO 46.8 million. The project extends for 32 kilometers, starting from Qaroot South Roundabout in Izki, passing through Birkat Al Mouz, and ending at Lulu Roundabout in Farq, Nizwa. The project also includes the installation of traffic signals to ensure smooth traffic flow and reduce expected congestion, the construction of 10 roundabouts along the route to facilitate movement, as well as pedestrian and vehicle underpasses in commercial and busy areas.
Al Ubaylah – Al Faiyad
The Ministry has also awarded the completion of the Al Ubaylah – Al Faiyad road project in the Al Buraimi Governorate. The project involves completing the remaining works on the 40-kilometer road from the main Sohar – Al Buraimi road to Al Faiyad in Al Buraimi Governorate at a total cost of RO 19.4 million. The project is set to be completed in 24 months, with an additional 30 days for preparatory work. The road will consist of two lanes, each 3.65 meters wide, with asphalt shoulders 2.5 meters wide on each side and earth shoulders 1 meter wide. The project also includes box culverts and two bridges to ensure continuous traffic flow in all weather conditions. The road will be constructed according to the 2017 Oman Road Design Manual, ensuring the necessary safety measures, such as concrete and metal barriers, signage, and road markings. This road is expected to facilitate traffic movement, strengthen social ties, and boost economic, tourism, and social activities.
Raysut – Al Mughsayl
To improve connectivity between tourist destinations in Dhofar Governorate, the Ministry has awarded the dualization of the Raysut – Al Mughsayl road at a total cost of RO 34.8 million. The project, which extends for 33 kilometers and will take 30 months to complete, involves the construction of six major infrastructure elements, including bridges and overpasses, as well as animal crossings. Additionally, the project will include the installation of all necessary safety measures to ensure the safety of road users.
Saih Qatnah
The Ministry has awarded the completion of the Saih Qatnah project in Al Jabal Al Akhdar at a total cost of RO 4.5 million. The project involves upgrading the existing road, which is 9.2 kilometers long, starting from the main road in Al Jabal Al Akhdar and passing through a series of mountainous terrains to reach Riyadh Farm. The road will consist of two lanes, each 3.5 meters wide, with asphalt shoulders 1.5 meters wide on each side and cement shoulders 1 meter wide. The project will be carried out according to the 2017 Oman Road Design Manual and will be equipped with all necessary traffic safety measures, such as concrete and metal barriers, signage, and road markings. This project aims to facilitate traffic flow, improve road efficiency, and enhance social ties, as well as tourism activities.
Aqabat A’afri
The Ministry has also awarded the design and construction of the Aqabat A’afri road between the Wilayat of Samail and the Wilayat of Izki, as well as the asphalt road in Al Saqari village. The project, which has a total cost of RO 4.5 million and a duration of 15 months, including the design and preparatory phase, involves the completion of the asphalt road from Al Buri village to Al Ainah village in Samail, with a length of approximately 3.6 kilometers. Additionally, it includes the design and construction of the road in Al Saqari village in Wadi Sqat in Samail, which spans about 3 kilometers. The project aims to improve the road network in the area and enhance safety standards by incorporating all traffic safety measures in accordance with the 2017 Oman Road Design Manual, such as metal barriers, signage, and road markings.
Saih Al Khairat
In the Wilayat of Thumrait, the Ministry has awarded the construction of the Saih Al Khairat – Al Shasr road in Dhofar Governorate at a total cost of RO 3.5 million. The project, which will take 18 months to complete, involves a two-way single road connecting Saih Al Khairat (Haila Al Rakah) to the Shasr district. The road, which spans 46 kilometers, will serve farms in the Al Najd agricultural area and will include all necessary protection measures to ensure its safety and efficiency for users.
