Muscat – This announcement highlights ongoing efforts by the municipal supervisory sector to ensure compliance with building use regulations and emphasizes the crucial role of the community in adhering to these rules.

The Governorate had previously issued a series of online notices to emphasize the potential negative consequences of accommodating expatriate workers in residential neighbourhoods.

These concerns include:

• Violation of societal privacy
• The possibility of behavioural and moral problems issues, potentially contributing to crime.
• Health and environmental concerns associated with accommodating expatriate workers in residential areas. can negatively impact health and environmental conditions.
• Distortion of urban appearance and aesthetic value of the place.

• Violations of these regulations cmayan harm the country’s economic situation.
• Threat to family safety in residential neighbourhoods.
• Spread of bad health habits such as smoking and tobacco use, which can negatively affect young people.

The Muscat Governorate also reiterates that Article 31 of Local Order No. 93/23, which governs building regulations in Muscat, clearly stipulates that complexes or buildings designed to accommodate workers or bachelors are not permitted in residential or commercial residential areas. The legislation also prohibits the construction of buildings that combine family and single housing.

Residents are reminded that violations of this order can result in fines exceeding RO 50. The Governorate urges the community to support these regulations to avoid contributing to violations and to maintain the integrity of residential neighbourhoods.
