Muscat – The rumours surfaced in connection with his recent role in the Indian film ‘The Goat Life’, directed by Blessy, which has ignited controversy for its depiction of labour exploitation.
‘The Goat Life’ is based on the Malayalam novel ‘Aadujeevitham’ by Benyamin, which recounts the true story of Najeeb Muhammad, an Indian migrant who endured harsh conditions as a goatherd in Saudi Arabia. In the film, Balushi plays a kafeel (sponsor) portrayed as cruel and neglectful.
The film has faced criticism on social media for allegedly distorting the image of Saudi Arabia. Recent claims by social media users suggested that Saudi authorities might have barred Balushi from the country due to his role in the film.

Balushi, currently in India, has addressed these claims, staring that there has been no letter from either the Saudi or Omani governments barring him from entering Saudi Arabia. “It is important to remember that this is just a film, not real life. My role was purely fictional,” he stressed, calling on the public to recognize the film’s artistic value, apart from the controversies.
Director Blessy also responded to the criticisms, highlighting that the film includes characters that represent compassion and empathy. “The movie aimed to showcase the kindness of Arab people, including a character who rescues Najeeb and offers him crucial help,” Blessy explained.
