Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority has announced that from Monday, August 19, to Wednesday, August 21, an upper-level low pressure from the Arabian Sea will bring a mix of clouds, isolated rain, and occasional thunderstorms across much of the Sultanate.
On Monday and Tuesday, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to affect the governorates of South and North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Wusta, Dhofar, Muscat, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, and the Al Hajar Mountains. Rainfall could range between 15-45 mm, with potential for wadi flows, while downdraft winds of up to 65 km/h could cause low visibility and disrupt outdoor activities. Sea conditions are also forecasted to be rough, with waves reaching up to 4 meters along the Arabian Sea and Oman Sea coasts.
By Wednesday, the stormy conditions are expected to ease slightly, but rain and thunderstorms may still impact Al Wusta and Dhofar, along with the Al Hajar Mountains in the afternoon and evening. Rainfall could measure between 10-25 mm, with similar wind speeds and sea conditions as earlier in the week.
