MUSCAT : In line with its commitment to community service and providing platforms and opportunities for knowledge and experiences exchange, and in recognition of the OETC’s pivotal role in empowering youth, building national capacities, and developing competencies through various educational practices and support initiatives, the Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) recently welcomed a new batch involving 34 students from higher education institutions from different governorates in the Sultanate of Oman. This comes as part of the 2024 Summer Internship Program, which spans over two months continuing until 15th August 2024.

The students will undergo an intensive training and gain practical and applied experiences across various technical and non-technical fields. This training aims to develop the students’ skills, abilities, and knowledge, providing them with the optimal educational and developmental experience in a professional and work-oriented environment. Additionally, it seeks to enhance their awareness of professional ethics, policies, and procedures, alongside how to operate in a real work environment.

Regarding the importance that OETC places on supporting youth through various initiatives, programs, and activities, Mr. Mubarak Al-Jahwari, General Manager of Human Resources at OETC, emphasized the company’s efforts and commitment to providing suitable opportunities for young people and offering the necessary support to enhance their competencies, knowledge, and skills. He also highlighted the OETC’s ongoing endeavors to increase the added value for the community.

Al-Jahwari added: “At OETC, we place utmost importance on the younger generation as they are the builders of Oman’s future. We have high hopes for them to contribute significantly to our beloved nation. This importance is reflected through the various programs, activities, and initiatives we diligently implement on a regular basis. These include training programs, field visits, lectures, and workshops to name a few. Additionally, we consistently engage with different educational institutions to improve the quality of education and share our expertise and knowledge”.

It is worth mentioning that OETC, a member of Nama Group, is the only company responsible for the transmission and control of electricity across the Sultanate’s network. The electricity is transmitted from production stations to distributed load centers in the governorates. The transmission network operates at a voltage of 132kV and above to cover most of the governorates in the Sultanate, whether in the north or the south. Furthermore, OETC manages the interconnection lines between Oman and the GCC interconnection network, which operates at a voltage of 220kV.
