Madayn partners with Tender Board to boost local products in Oman’s government tenders

The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), represented by the Industrial Innovation Academy, has signed a collaboration program with the General Secretariat of the Tender Board to integrate government tenders with local products.

Muscat – This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to support the industrial sector, raise the efficiency of spending, and enhance local content in government projects, contracts, and purchases.

The agreement, signed by H.E. Engineer Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, Vice President of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, and Engineer Dawood bin Salim Al Hadabi, CEO of Madayn, along with H.E. Engineer Badr bin Salim bin Marhoon Al Maamari, Secretary General of the Tender Board, aims to streamline procurement processes and prioritize local products.

A key facet of this collaboration is the ‘Rabt’ platform, developed Madayn’s Industrial Innovation Academy. It serves as a unified smart data platform to connect industries in industrial cities, special economic zones, and free zones with government tenders. The platform ensures that local products and services are integrated into tender documents, enhancing their visibility and utilization in government projects.

Key objectives of the platform include empowering growth in the industrial sector and maximizing local content within Oman; implementing and managing a Decision Support System (DSS) for awarding government tenders; adopting an innovation-based Omani local content accreditation system; and enhancing Oman’s ranking in the Global Competitiveness Index.

Services provided by the platform include identifying new investment opportunities, facilitating commercial networking among factories, linking local products with government tenders and procurement, and calculating the In-Country Value (ICV) contribution rate.
