Muscat – The seizure was made during routine inspection visits to stores and commercial centers in the governorate.
The CPA’s officers discovered several commercial establishments selling expired goods and gelatinous children’s toys, such as jelly toys and slime toys, which are prohibited under Ministerial Resolution No. 301/2021.
This resolution mandates the cessation of the circulation of such toys in Oman unless the producers have obtained the Gulf conformity certificate or the necessary approvals from the concerned authorities.
The total number of seized items reached 1,019. Following the seizure, violations were issued, the items were withdrawn from the market, and an investigation was launched. Necessary legal actions are being taken against the offending establishments.
The Authority has urged all merchants to stay informed about legal, legislative, and regulatory requirements. It emphasized the importance of constant communication with the Authority and staying updated on new regulatory decisions. Merchants are advised to ensure that their goods conform to the specified standards and are aware of any decisions regarding the withdrawal or prohibition of goods to protect consumer health and safety and avoid legal consequences.
The Authority reiterated its commitment to monitoring markets and controlling unauthorized goods. It assured that all legal measures would be taken against violators. Consumers are encouraged to report any violations they notice through various communication channels provided by the Authority.
