Muscat – According to online news sources, ICC prosecutor Karim Khan has announced the move, stating that there are substantial grounds to hold Netanyahu and Sinwar accountable for actions committed since October 7, 2023. The request follows the deadly attacks and subsequent conflict between Israel and Gaza.

The charges against Netanyahu and Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant include extermination, starvation, blocking of humanitarian relief, targeting civilians during conflict, etc.

In addition to Sinwar (against who the charges include extermination, murder, hostage-taking and sexual assault, among others), the ICC seeks warrants for senior Hamas figures, Ismail Haniyeh and Mohammed Deif.

A panel of ICC judges will review Khan’s request for these arrest warrants.

In a statement released on ICC website, Khan stated: “Today’s applications are the outcome of an independent and impartial investigation by my Office. Guided by our obligation to investigate incriminating and exonerating evidence equally, my Office has worked painstakingly to separate claims from facts and to soberly present conclusions based on evidence to the Pre-Trial Chamber.”
