MUSCAT : This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s strategic direction, which supports the Oman Vision of Oman 2040. The program aims to improve and regulate the business environment, enhance the competitiveness of translation firms, and distinguish legitimate businesses through the issuance of professional cards.
The cards will include the translator’s institutional data, license number, and expiration date.
The initiative stems from a cooperation agreement signed by H.E. Dr. Saleh bin Saeed Musan, Undersecretary for Trade and Industry, and H.E. Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Chamber will design a special program for issuing the cards and provide the printing device, covering all associated financial costs.
Professional cards for translators will enhance the efficiency of the process of organizing institutions specialized in the field of translation to regulate the labour market and create a suitable environment for employing job seekers in such specializations; it will play a vital role in encouraging cooperation with relevant authorities for such services.
It also allows the concerned authorities and the general public to verify the validity of the card and the information accompanying it, such as a license, commercial register, and contact information, as the cloud platform provides an organized database for professionals, facilitating the search and classification process and speeding up access to information.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Amer Al-Musalhi, Chairman of the Chamber’s Small and Medium Enterprises Committee, explained that the initiative to issue the translators’ card is expected to improve the work environment for SMEs specialized in this field.
He said in a statement to the Oman News Agency that the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry seeks to find bodies that support the sustainability of these institutions in providing their services and will contribute to employing job seekers who specialize in this field.
