Muscat: Vodafone Oman CEO Badr Al-Zaidi revealed significant advancements in the company’s cybersecurity measures and ambitious plans for expanding their 5G network coverage.
He disclosed that Vodafone Oman successfully thwarted 10 million hacking attempts over the past year. This impressive feat was accomplished by strategically deploying AI techniques, underscoring the company’s proactive approach to safeguarding its digital infrastructure.
The CEO emphasized that despite operating with a lean team comprising only three employees in the cybersecurity centre, Vodafone Oman effectively leveraged technological innovations to confront evolving cyber threats.

Al-Zaidi unveiled ambitious plans for expanding Vodafone Oman’s 5G network coverage. Currently, the 5G network blankets 70% of the population, with plans to extend coverage to 90% by the end of the year. To facilitate this expansion, Vodafone Oman aims to increase the number of 5G sites by a significant margin, adding 1,500 sites within the next two years.
