MUSCAT : The Municipality’s ongoing project to implement a surface water drainage canal next to Al Anwar Street in the Wilayat of Bausher will divert surface water heading to the Azaiba area.
The area has frequent accumulations of rainwater and surface water, and there is no drainage system for that water, the Municipality stated in an announcement concerning the project.
“The project includes the construction of a canal adjacent to Al Anwar Street with a length of approximately 2,200 metres to drain water coming from Sultan Qaboos Street into the existing canal on the airport ground, as well as the construction of culverts under November 18th Street with two openings 2.5 meters wide and 1.5 meters high, and an open channel extending from November 18 Street, through Azaiba Park, all the way to the mouth of the sea. This is to drain the water that collects in the surrounding area during rainfall,” the statement reads.
