MUSCAT : Sayyida Dr. Basma Al Said, a renowned mental health specialist and advocate, who has spoken at TEDx events three times, featured twice in US Forbes, and once in MENA Forbes, made a significant impact during her recent visit to Egypt, marking vital moments in promoting mental health awareness. Her presence graced two key events, leaving a lasting impression on those in attendance.



At the American University of Cairo, Sayyida Dr. Basma captivated audiences as the first Omani speaker to address mental health at the esteemed institution. Engaging in an enlightening discussion on Mental Health First Aid for students, she garnered praise from psychology students and faculty across various disciplines. The vibrant atmosphere in the Alumni Lounge underscored the importance of fostering open dialogue on mental health within academic communities. Such positive feedback has paved the way for future collaborations, with invitations for return visits warmly extended.

This visit follows Sayyida Dr. Basma’s earlier talk at the American University of Sharjah during the World Mental Health Day celebration in October 2023, solidifying her commitment to advancing mental health discourse across the Arab region.

Additionally, Sayyida Dr. Basma had the privilege of attending the prestigious 1st Annual celebration of the Fahim Foundation at the new National Museum of Civilization in Cairo. Hosted by distinguished figures including HE Nabila Makram—the Founder, Dr. Nasser Loza, Director of The Behman Hospital, and Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism & Antiquities, the event underscored Egypt’s dedication to prioritizing mental health initiatives. Special thanks were extended to HE Nabila Makram and the Fahim Foundation for their unwavering dedication to promoting mental health awareness throughout the region.

The Fahim Foundation is registered under the Ministry of Social Solidarity and stands as a pioneering institution in Egypt and the Arab world, championing psychological awareness and support for children and families.
