MUSCAT : Alizz Islamic Bank recently announced the appointment of Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Gharbi as the newest member of the Shari’a Supervisory Board. This comes as part of the bank’s dedication and commitment to provide Shari’a compliant banking solutions by strengthening the Shari’a Supervisory Board with leading Islamic scholars.
Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Gharbi is an academic at Sultan Qaboos University. He has presented many studies in Islamic Shari’a and conducted academic research on financial transactions within the framework of Islamic jurisprudence. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al Gharbi holds a doctorate in the field of Islamic sciences from Al-Zaytoona University in Tunisia, a master’s degree from the University of Jordan, and a bachelor’s degree from the Sharia Judiciary, Preaching and Guidance Institute in the Sultanate of Oman
The Sharia Supervisory Board of Alizz Islamic Bank includes in its membership scholars distinguished by extensive knowledge of Islamic Shari’a. It is chaired by Sheikh Dr. Essam Khalaf Al-Enezi and also includes Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Subhi Ahmed Ayadi and Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim bin Nasser bin Salem Al-Sawafi as members of the board.

The Shari’a Supervisory Board of Alizz Islamic Bank reviews all Islamic banking agreements, documents, products and services launched by the Bank. The Board includes members who are knowledgeable about Shari’a law and transaction jurisprudence in particular. They work in accordance with the Central Bank of Oman and with the Higher Sharia Supervisory Authority to provide the bank customers with peace of mind by offering products and services that are approved by fatwas and resolutions. This comes as part of the efforts to achieve the goals of Islamic banking, which is to provides customers with financing solutions that are consistent with their beliefs and with full transparency and clarity. The Sharia supervisory bodies through their knowledge and experience play a key role towards the growth of this sector locally and globally.
