Muscat – In response to a question on the impact of Red Sea crisis on Omani ports, H.E. Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed Al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, affirmed that the tensions did have an impact on the ports, He, however, clarified that only transit ports were affected by the crisis, pointing out Salalah port in particular, as 95% of the containers in the port are destined for other ports around the world. “We noticed an increase in the shift in Omani land ports and an increase in the departure of shipments from the Sultanate of Oman to points in the Red Sea, such as the city of Jeddah,” said the Minister.
