Muscat – In preparation for the much-anticipated Ironman World Championship 2024, Muscat is gearing up for a day of intense athletic feats and community engagement. The Royal Oman Police Directorate of Relations and Security Information has issued a notice regarding partial traffic closures across Muscat Governorate to accommodate the triathlon’s rigorous schedule.

As part of the traffic management plan, parking of vehicles will be prohibited on both sides of the adjacent roads along the cycling and running competition routes. Spectators and residents are urged to adhere to these regulations to ensure smooth proceedings and the safety of participants.

The race will start at 11 am from behind InterContinental Muscat Hotel towards the Ministry of Foreign Affairs traffic lights to the Culture roundabout, then return from the front of the Ministry of Health on the same route to reach AlSarouj traffic lights, turn left to Darsait-Qurum Road, then to Matrah Corniche via Al Bustan and Al Wadi Al Kabir to Darsait traffic lights, turn left to Ruwi to the Wilayat of Al Amerat through Wadi Aday, return from the roundabout opposite Al Amerat Police Station to Qurum via Wadi Aday and Wattayah, turn right to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs traffic lights and end at the starting point.

Meanwhile, the running competition route promises a scenic journey, starting from behind the InterContinental Muscat Hotel and leading towards iconic destinations such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs traffic lights and Qurum Natural Park. Athletes will traverse Muscat’s picturesque landscapes before returning to Shatti Al-Qurum road.
