Muscat – The tournament at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher witnessed intense competition among 122 male and female players representing 40 clubs. Mirbat Club claimed the third spot in a tournament showcasing chess’s growing prominence in Oman.

The championship, held under the patronage of Ahmed bin Darwish Al Balushi, Chairman of the Omani Chess Club Committee, marked a historic moment with the participation of 40 clubs, a significant increase from previous editions. Clubs across the Sultanate, including Saham, Salalah, Nizwa, Sohar, Al-Amerat, Taqah, and many more, competed fiercely in this intellectual battle.

The tournament’s final rounds unfolded as anticipated, with seasoned players engaging in strategic battles. The spotlight, however, shone on Taqah Club’s Abdullah Al-Maashani, who clinched the championship title with an impressive 8 points. The competition was particularly intense as he faced off against his club colleague, Amer Al-Maashani, who secured the second position.

Mirbat Club’s Salem Al-Omari claimed the third spot with 7.5 points. The top positions were closely contested, reflecting the participants’ high skill level and determination.

Salalah Club players Mohammed Al-Mushaykhi and Salem Al-Mushaykhi secured the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Muslim Al-Amri from Salalah claimed the sixth spot with 7 points, while Rashid Al-Jabri from Majis Club secured the seventh position with the same score.
