Muscat – The CPA will evaluate commercial establishments that are seeking to offer top-notch services to consumers in Oman by meeting three primary criteria: customer orientation, mechanisms to ensure customer satisfaction, and the ability to address consumer needs through service development and innovation.

Three companies will be assessed in the hypermarket sector (retail) category based on factors such as their strategic plans, which emphasize customer satisfaction, the quality of services rendered, and how well they respond to complaints and observations from customers, while also creating offerings that satisfy their needs and expectations.

The assessment will be conducted by arbitrators and consultants from within the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to the field visit evaluation team, which comprises of specialized CPA experts.

Establishments that score above 80 percent in the evaluation will be granted several benefits; they will receive a detailed report containing the evaluation, findings and areas for improvement, a unique poster designating the establishment as customer-friendly, and a consumer-friendly card with specific amenities.

In addition, companies can utilize the classification result in their marketing and promotion as a customer-friendly establishment as well as publish the same in newspapers and other media outlets.

It is important to note that the Consumer Friendly Establishments initiative is one of the tenth strategic plans of CPA, emanating from Oman Vision 2040. The initiative focuses on achieving a number of goals, including raising the efficiency of services provided to consumers in the retail, commercial, industrial, and economic services sectors, and adhering to standards that are appropriate – given the laws and regulations in effect in the Sultanate of Oman.

In addition to expanding the initiative outside of Muscat to include some governorates in Oman, awareness of the initiative will also be strengthened in 2024 in an effort to increase the number of registered commercial establishments. This initiative will continue to involve all sectors in order to achieve sustainability.
