Muscat: As per the preliminary statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information, the governorates of Al Dhahirah, South Al Batinah, and North Al Batinah recorded an increase of 0.4 percent in total electricity production by the end of June 2023, reaching 12,985.5 gigawatts per hour.
Production also increased in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate by 7.2 percent to reach 35.4 gigawatts per hour, as well as in the Governorates of North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah by 6 percent, reaching 4,541.5 GW per hour; Dhofar Governorate increased by 12.4 percent, reaching 2,297.1 GW per hour, and Musandam Governorate by 0.2 percent, recording 203.5 GW per hour.
As for Muscat Governorate, the total electricity production decreased by 51.5 percent, recording 181.4 gigawatts per hour; total production in Al Wusta Governorate also decreased by 33.2 percent, reaching 104.7 gigawatts per hour.
Oman’s net electricity production until the end of June 2023 – including the purchases of the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the purchases of the Rural Areas Electricity Company by region – amounted to 19,697.1 gigawatts per hour, with the largest amount of net electricity production coming in each of Al-Dhahirah and the governorates of South Al-Batinah and North Al-Batinah, amounting to 12,547.6 gigawatts per hour.
On the other hand, the total amount of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman witnessed an increase of 1.6 percent to reach 256,220,000 cubic meters by the end of last June, compared to 252,296,000.4 thousand cubic meters by the end of the same period in 2022.
