HYDERABAD : Taurean Surgical, a startup that is democratizing access to high-precision robot-assisted surgery using advanced AI-based technologies, announced that it has raised an undisclosed amount of pre-seed funding from Beyond Tech VC (a venture capital firm that invests in innovative healthcare startups) and other Angel investors from India. The funding will help Taurean Surgical accelerate its product development, expand its team, and conduct clinical trials.

Taurean Surgical was founded by Dr. Rahul Kumar and Dr. Sunil Manjila, two surgeons who saw the need for more affordable and accessible surgical robots in India and other developing countries. The startup is developing a novel AI-based surgical visualization platform that can help surgeons visualise critical areas with the help of augmented reality and computer vision in 3D thereby reducing the cost and complexity of robot-assisted surgery. Taurean Surgical aims to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare for millions of people who lack access to advanced surgical facilities.

“We are thrilled to partner with Beyond Tech VC, who share our vision of democratizing robot-assisted surgery and making it available to everyone who needs it,” said Dr. Kumar, co-founder and CEO of Taurean Surgical. “With their support, we will be able to bring our innovative solution to the market faster and make a positive impact on the lives of patients and surgeons.”

“We are impressed by the team and technology behind Taurean Surgical, which has the potential to disrupt the surgical robotics industry and create a new standard of care,” said Mr. Aadil Alexander, managing partner at Beyond Tech VC. “We believe that Taurean Surgical is well-positioned to capture the huge market opportunity in India and beyond, and we are excited to be part of their journey.”
