Muscat – As per the data released by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) Muscat Governorate witnessed the highest number of divorces with 977 cases, followed by Dhofar Governorate at 786 cases, North al Batinah with 666, and South Al Batinah at 476 cases.
Statistics based on nationalities showed that the highest number of divorce cases was between Omani men and Omani women (3,682 cases) and the lowest was between expatriate couples at 182 cases. The number of divorce cases between Omani men and expatriate women reached 208.
The number of divorce cases in 2020 was 3,426; 3,728 in 2019; 3,662 in 2018; and 3,867 in 2017.
