Bank Muscat participates in SQU Career and Training Opportunities Fair 2023

MUSCAT – In line with its continuous success in investing in human resources and commitment to creating rewarding job opportunities and internships for Omani youth, Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, participated in the 23rd Career and Training Opportunities Fair organised by the Sultan Qaboos University from 20-22nd March 2023. The event, which was inaugurated under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nasr Amer Al Hosni, Undersecretary for Labour, Ministry of Labour, and attended by HH Sayyid Dr Fahad bin Al Julanda Al Said, Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, witnessed the participation of different private and public institutions representing a wide range of sectors in Oman.


Bank Muscat has been keenly participating in the annual career fair organised by the Center for Career Guidance at the Sultan Qaboos University for a long time as it offers an excellent opportunity to meet with students, introduce them to the types of jobs at the bank, its employment and training policies, and also explain to them how to apply for available vacancies. Bank Muscat pays great attention and importance to the development of national human resources and is continuously cooperating and partnering with different educational institutions in Oman to achieve the objectives of sustainable human development. Thus the bank makes use of every opportunity it gets to extend support to Omani nationals seeking career development and training opportunities including regularly participating at career fairs organized by leading educational institutions.


During the opening ceremony, the chief guest visited the bank’s pavilion at the Career Fair where he was briefed on the jobs and training opportunities available at the bank, its employment policies, different specializations in banking and how students can apply for jobs. The SQU Career Fair provides training and job opportunities for students and alumni to enhance their abilities, develop their skills, and prepare them for the labor market. It also provides an opportunity for students who are in the stage of choosing their academic specialisations to be exposed to the most demanded ones in the Omani labor market and the career paths associated with them. The Fair also helps participating institutions to accelerate their Omanisation schemes through direct contact with over 3,000 students from 60 different subject specialisations.

With 95 per cent Omanisation, an excellent gender ratio of over 48 per cent female employees and over 3,800 total employees, Bank Muscat is a dream employer for Omani youth, particularly those who are interested in the financial services sector. In 2022, the bank recruited 234 Omanis across its different departments. Also, in cooperation with different educational institutions, the bank provided 328 student internships.


Bank Muscat, which has a formal talent identification process for developing its human resources, is well known for its leadership pipeline. It offers excellent leadership programmes, which are facilitated by faculty from some of the best business schools around the world. All bank employees are also provided with learning and development opportunities throughout the year so as to build their on-the-job capabilities as well as soft skills.
