MUSCAT : Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals confirmed that it is preparing a new set of concession areas in the mining sector, targeting chrome, copper, limestone, and other ores, to be offered during the first quarter of 2023. The Ministry will be announcing and offering these sites during the first quarter of this year.
In a statement to the Oman News Agency, Dr. Salah bin Hafeez al-Dahab, Director General of Investment at the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, said that the ministry is currently in the final stage of negotiations with specialized companies about several concession areas, most of which focus on developing potash ore (potassium chloride), and the research and evaluation of lithium ore. He added that the ministry is focusing on exploration and prospecting in the new open areas to carry out in-depth and internationally recognized studies on the ores available in the Sultanate.
