MUSCAT: Duqm Oil Refinery will lead Middle East refineries in fluid cracking stimulation, a London-based market research company has revealed in its latest report.
The process of fluid cracking stimulation is widely used to convert high-boiling hydrocarbon fractions, found in crude oil into gasoline, olefinic gases and other higher value products.
The Middle East region would rank third globally for its contribution of about 17% of the global capacity of the gas control unit by 2026.

“Duqm in Oman and Qassem Soleimani in Iran are the two refineries that are likely to be the largest contributors in the region. They have a capacity of 75 million barrels per day each, and they are expected to be operational by 2025,” said Teja Babubola, oil and gas analyst at Global Data who was quoted in the report.
The report indicated that Asia is likely to see an addition of 1,009 thousand barrels per day by 2026. Of which, 662 million barrels per day of capacity is likely to be from new construction refineries, while the rest will come from expansion of old refineries.
