MUSCAT: An all-new edition of Subaru WRX – an icon of adrenaline-filled rally racing championships around the world – has arrived in the Sultanate of Oman much to the excitement of local motorsports enthusiasts. 

Completely redesigned and engineered, the all-new WRX is an attention grabber with its bold and aggressive new look that begins with its distinctive hexagonal grills and ends with its striking fenders at the rear, including its iconic bonnet scoop.  

Standard with the WRX is Subaru’s highly acclaimed Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD), which distributes power to all wheels for better traction on wet and slippery roads. Its well-balanced, low centre of gravity design ensures a stable and safe ride.

As with past generations of the WRX, the all-new version is also powered by a 2.4-litre direct injected, turbocharged horizontally-opposed BOXER engine, delivering 275 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and broader torque curve with 350 Nm of torque from 2,000-5,200 rpm. 

An exciting Drive Mode Select feature comes with four preset modes – Comfort, Normal, Sport, and Sport+ – which enables you to, depending upon your mood and circumstances, shift from sporty solo driving to comfortable trips with the family. Enhanced acceleration, better gas-pedal response and improved fuel efficiency add to the exhilarating experience at the wheel of the WRX. 

Ensuring superior comfort and structural strength is the automotive brand’s much-lauded Subaru Global Platform (SGP), which provides a stress-free, high quality and sporty driving experience. Complementing this distinctive attribute is Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which provides drivers with complete peace of mind on the road. It incorporates Adaptive Cruise Control (Lane Departure Prevention and Lane Centring Control and Preceding Vehicle), Adaptive Steering Control (Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Pre-Collision Braking System, Autonomous Emergency Steering, Lead Vehicle Start Alert and Manual Speed Limiter).

Adding to the WRX’s popular appeal is Subaru’s all-round safety assurance – the result of 50 years of testing and retesting. In addition to its cabin-protecting layout and ring-shaped reinforcement frame, the WRX also comes with Vehicle Dynamics Control, Supplemental Restraint System, Driver Monitoring System, Reverse Automatic Braking, Rear Vehicle Detection, Hazard Avoidance, High Beam Assist and Steering Responsive Headlights.

Inside the spacious and superbly furnished interior of the WRX, a large 11.6-inch touchscreen display allows smartphone-like operation for audio, HVAC and other useful vehicle functions. It also supports an array of infotainment features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
