GCC airlines join hands with Qatar Airways to operate shuttle flights during World Cup

Oman Air, Saudia, Kuwait Airways and Fly Dubai will shuttle daily flights to bring football fans to Doha.

DOHA: Qatar Airways has announced that leading airlines from GCC countries including Oman Air will operate more than 160 daily shuttle flights to Qatar during the FIFA World Cup this year.

Speaking at the ‘Match Day Shuttle Service’ press conference, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said the collaboration with GCC airlines will allow fans to fly in from nearby cities before a game and return at the end of the day.

Oman Air will operate up to 48 daily flights to carry about 3,400 fans from Muscat to Doha, while UAE’s Fly Dubai, Kuwait Airways and Saudia from Saudi Arabia will also join hands for the shuttle service. “This World Cup is for entire region and first in the Middle East. We are doing everything we can to ensure fans who has the World Cup tickets can watch the match in the best way,” Baker added.
