MUSCAT: Many governorates of Oman have decided to celebrate the mid-Ramadan month by following a social traditional and much-awaited tradition named ‘Qaranqasho’.

In most of the Sultanate’s governorates, Qaranqasho is the most common name for the event while others call it Garge’an, a term used by some other GCC countries which follow this particular Ramadan tradition.

After the iftar and Maghrib prayers, children gather in groups to recite popular songs associated with this beautiful custom. It is customary for family members and other adults to offer children some gifts on this auspicious day, such as sweets, chocolates, cakes, drinks, and a small amount of money.

Omani households also commemorate their traditional traditions and rituals on this day. Qaranqasho is greatly awaited by both youngsters and adults, who make plans for it ahead in time.
