MUSCAT: The work of the 39th session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers began on Wednesday in Tunisia with the participation of the Sultanate of Oman, whose delegation is headed by Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior.
The session discussed several items, including a draft tenth phase plan for the Arab strategy to combat the illicit use of narcotics and psychotropic substances, a draft sixth phase plan for the Arab strategy for civil protection (civil defence), in addition to a draft ninth phase plan for the Arab strategy to combat terrorism.
The session also discussed the recommendations issued by conferences and meetings held within the scope of the General Secretariat during 2021, and the results of joint meetings with Arab and international bodies during the same year, and will consider establishing an Arab office for cybersecurity and combating cybercrime in Algeria.

His Excellency calls for concerted efforts to translate the various topics covered by the session in the field of joint Arab security cooperation, which, if adopted into a tangible practical reality, would enhance the ability of Arab security services to follow up on everything new in the field of combating crime in all its forms and types.
The session witnessed the inauguration of the website of the human rights bodies in the Arab Ministries of Interior.
