MUSCAT: A government official’s ultimate purpose is to serve the country and citizens, His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik said while addressing the sheikhs of South Al Sharqiyah on Sunday.
His Majesty also reminded the government officials their role in Oman’s development march. “The government was found to serve the citizen. Therefore, the ultimate purpose of an official, whether it’s a minister, undersecretary or anyone in any governmental body is to serve the country and its citizens,” His Majesty said at the Hisn A’Shumook castle in the Wilayat of Manah.
His Majesty the Sultan observed that the governorates and municipal councils should perform their national roles as precisely as they are expected to do. He instructed the institutions to double their efforts to elevate the status of the local community.

The role of the governor, His Majesty said will be strengthened. “The role of the governor is an important one, his role is traditional and important in this country, and we will preserve this role for the governor, and we will strengthen this role,” His Majesty added.
