MUSCAT: Deliberately crossing wadis or failing to follow instructions issued by the authorities can lead to losing the vehicle compensation, the Capital Market Authority (CMA) said on Tuesday.
According to the law, deliberately crossing wadi can lead to three months in jail, as well as a fine of OMR 500.
Oman has been battering heavy rainfall in most parts of the country due to a low pressure depression, that has led to flash floods.

“Unified vehicle insurance policy in comprehensive insurance covers damages resulting from natural disasters, including hail, flooding of valleys, storms and cyclones, but it requires the policy holder to take all reasonable precautions to preserve the vehicle and to not risk crossing valleys and to follow the instructions of the Royal Oman Police. In case of deliberate crossing of valleys and failure to follow instructions, the police may waive the right of the policy holder from compensation if it is proven that the damage to the vehicle resulted from a deliberate act committed by its driver,” a statement issued by the CMA pointed out.
