MUSCAT: Oman is witnessing an increase in new infections after the Ministry of Health reported 60 new COVID-19 cases in the last three days.
However, no deaths have been recorded but health authorities have urged the public to be cautious and follow precautionary measures.
Oman recorded two confirmed cases of the new coronavirus variant Omicron, while there are also 12 suspected cases of the virus, forcing the Supreme Committee to impose stricter measures including the ban on gatherings, holding marriage celebrations and mourning at mosques, halls and other public places

Last week speaking speaking in an interview His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health said: “The rise in cases is not due to Omicron but due to not following the safety measures. We call on citizens and residents to adhere to precautionary measures and get vaccinated.”
Authorities have also urged people to take the third dose of vaccination to contain the spread of the virus. According to MOH, more than 32,000 people have received the booster dose.
