MUSCAT: The third dose vaccine will give more protection from the virus and in the wake of 12 suspected cases of Omicron variant in Oman, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi urged both citizens and residents to head to the vaccination centres.

“Those who have received two doses and exceeded 6-8 months can take the third dose,” Al Saidi said.

According to the Minister 86% people in the target population have so far received two doses. “There is no excuse for anyone above 12 in not getting vaccinated. Vaccination protects you,” he said.

On Tuesday in an interview with Oman TV, the Minister said 12 suspected cases of Omicron variant has been found in the country. “Reports from South Africa indicate that Omicron is less virulent than others, but what is worrying about this virus is the speed of its spread,” he added.
