MUSCAT: With neighbouring UAE and Saudi Arabia reporting its first cases of the new COVID-19 variant Omicron, Oman may impose new measures to contain its spread, a top Ministry of Health (MOH) official informed The Arabian Stories.
“We are closely watching the developments around the globe including the region. It’s a concern that the virus is spreading around the world. We need to look at imposing measures that could stop the variant from entering,” said the official.
On Wednesday evening, UAE reported the first case of Omicron after an African woman arriving from an African country through an Arab country tested positive, state news agency WAM reported.
