MUSCAT: The death toll caused by tropical Cyclone Shaheen in Oman rose to four on Monday after a missing person was reportedly found dead in his car in Rustaq.
On Sunday, the search and rescue pulled bodies of two expat workers from the rubble of a landslide in Rusayl Industrial Area after their accommodation collapsed due to heavy rain, while a child died in water pool in Al Amerat on Sunday morning.
Cyclone Shaheen made landfall in Musannah and Suwaiq bringing torrential rains and flooding wadis. While the storm has been downgraded to tropical depression, Oman Met in its latest weather report stated: “it will continue to affect the governorates of Al Dhahirah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Buraimi and Al Dakhiliyah with heavy rainfall (70 to 200 mm) leading to flooding of the valleys with moderate to brisk winds.”
