MUSCAT: Starting from September 1, travellers coming to Oman need to carry a vaccination certificate containing QR code stating that they have received the two doses of the approved COVID-19 vaccination.
If the passengers are travelling with a negative COVID-19 certificate, it should also have a QR code, according to the decision issued by the Supreme Committee. But why is QR code necessary in vaccination certificate and PCR test report? “It helps to verify the certificates and help in detecting forgery,” said Dr. Saif bin Salim Al Abri, Director General of Disease Surveillance and Control at Ministry of Health.
“As for the QR code, many countries have adopted it and the World Tourism Organisation has introduced a link for countries to check the tests and certificates verified through the QR, and many countries detected forgery in the test and certificates,” Al Abri explained.
