MUSCAT: Oman’s total coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic surpassed 300,000 on Sunday after the country’s health ministry reported 552 new infections.
While 288,389 cases have recovered, there are now 11,805 active cases with a 96.1 per cent recovery. More than 3,990 people have died due to the virus since the start of the pandemic.
However, Oman’s daily Covid-19 cases have significantly dropped, thanks to the full lockdown during Eid Al Adha holidays and the night movement ban imposed by the Supreme Committee. With the Ministry of Health intensifying its vaccination drive, the number of patients admitted to hospitals in the country has reduced. There are now 257 patients admitted in hospitals, including 116 people in ICU. According to official figures, more than two million people have been vaccinated in the country so far.
