MUSCAT: Oman top sprinter Barakat Al Harthy has advanced to the next round after setting a new record of 10.27s in the 100-meter preliminary race in Tokyo Olympic Games.
The 33-year-old is representing the Sultanate in the Olympics for the third consecutive time after London 2012 and Rio 2016.
Others who progressed from the preliminary heats include Zimbabwe’s Ngoni Makusha, who got off the block fast to win his heat in 10.32, and
Dorian Keletela of Jamaica, who clocked a personal best 10.33 seconds.

There were three preliminary heats overall and the first three in each heat qualify to round one, along with the athlete who posts the next fastest time.
