MUSCAT: A Joint Operations Centre (JOC) in coordination with the Royal Oman Police and several government institutions has opened on Tuesday to ensure availability of basic services and to facilitate the emergency movement of people, as full lockdown came into force.

JOC has representatives from the Royal Oman Police, health care, tourism, trade and industry, municipality, communications and information technology and from the agricultural, fisheries and water resources.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Committee members visited JOC to inspect the facilities. The Supreme Committee has urged both citizens and residents “to strictly abide by the preventive measures and lockdown of business activities and ban of movement on vehicles and individuals to contain the spread of the virus.”

Oman has imposed a complete closure during the Eid Al Adha days. The full lockdown will end at 4am on July 24.
