MUSCAT:The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has urged the public to cooperate as it is gearing-up to implement the full-lockdown during the Eid Al Adha days.

Major General Abdullah Al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations said ROP will be open an operations centre that will work round the clock from July 16. “We hope everyone will cooperate in order to overcome this virus. Our goal is not to restrict people, but to limit the spread of this pandemic and that’s our goal,” Al Harthy said.

“We assure everyone that the rule is to combat the epidemic, and the plan is to firmly implement the decisions of the Supreme Committee,” he said.

According to Al Harthy, the operations centre will function under the supervision of five government ministries. “During the full lockdown we will have some exemptions for emergency cases and those excluded according to the decisions of the Supreme Committee as well as all other cases related to food, supply and everyday essentials such as pharmacies fuel and others,” Al Harthy added.
