MUSCAT: Hilal Al Sarmi, Head of Majlis Al Shura’s Health Affairs has expressed concern on the rise in coronavirus cases and deaths in Oman.
Delivering an emergency statement at the Shura Council on Tuesday, Al Sarmi urged the government to open up vaccination for all age groups without linking it to occupation, gender, or age. “This can be done by booking the necessary appointments as is currently done and with the support of friendly and brotherly countries in providing these vaccinations,” Al Sarmi said.
He also asked the authorities to open more field hospitals in various governorates that need additional Covid-19 services. In the wake of new mutant strains, Al Sarmi also asked MOH to reduce the cost of PCR tests to a minimum of OMR 5, which will help both citizens and residents.

Oman on Monday registered the highest death cases, while more than 2,000 new infections were also recorded.
