MUSCAT: Flights are still operating from India despite the travel ban but a top official at the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technology (MTCIT) has clarified that it is to carry residents from Oman.
Addressing the Supreme Committee press conference, His Excellency Salim Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of MTCIT said: “Operating flights is mainly aimed at carrying residents from the Sultanate to India and facilitating the return of the nationals and attracting health staff. All passengers are subject to the protocols set and announced including PCR before arriving to the Sultanate and mandatory health quarantine.”
“The first decision was issued to suspend the flights coming from India and Pakistan and some countries such as Brazil. Later, another decision was issued to include other county. This decision excluded certain categories including nationals, health staff required to support the health sector as well as the cargo related to medical services and supplies,” he explained.

“There are transfered flights (directly transited without entering airport halls) and there are also passenger flights in which passengers enter airport halls in a specific path without contacting with other passengers or employees at the airport,” he added.
