MUSCAT: In the wake of rising coronavirus cases in the country, strict decisions are taken based on studies, Minister of Health said.
When asked if the Supreme Committee will impose a total lockdown in Oman, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi said: “At present there are no plans for a complete lockdown. A total lockdown is the last decision a country might want to make, and every country is trying to balance the situation economic, health and social. If a complete lockdown is announced, it will be for the safety of our citizens and residents.”
The Minister said the health sector is undergoing tremendous pressure. “The health sector has reached a critical and very, very dangerous situation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Al Saidi also said night lockdown that is currently imposed in the Sultanate will help in reducing the cases. “Partial lockdown is feasible. During the month of Ramadan, when the cases were very high in Dhofar, we decided to close it in the evening and within two weeks the cases decreased,” the Minister added.
The Supreme Committee has imposed a night lockdown for an indefinite period across the country between 8pm to 4am in the wake of rising coronavirus cases in Oman.
