AL HAMRA: 70 per cent of wildfire that engulfed the Ras Al Harq area in Wilayat Al Hamra has been controlled, Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDA) reported on Thursday.
In a statement issued, CDA said more than 250 personnel from different formations took the efforts in controlling the fire. “They were transported through five aircraft belonging to the Royal Oman Police and the Royal Air Force of Oman,” CDA said.
“Efforts are still continuing to extinguish the rest during the next few hours,” CDA said.

Earlier, CDA said that the helicopters were unable to carry out combat operations due to the rugged mountainous terrain and the lack of water sources.
