MUSCAT: Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has clarified that the main objective of operating flights between the Sultanate and India despite the Covid-19 travel ban.
In a statement issued, CAA noted that flights operating between two countries are in accordance with the decisions issued by the Supreme Committee and the main objective of operating these flights are :
- To transfer Indian citizens from Oman wishing to return to their home country.
- Transporting health supplies, goods and merchandise essential to the Sultanate, facilitating return of Omani citizens, diplomats and health workers from India to the Sultanate.
CAA also pointed out that the competent authorities in the Sultanate represented by the Civil Aviation Authority, the Royal Oman Police and the Ministry of Health are also monitoring “the small number of Omanis, diplomats and health workers coming to the Sultanate on these flights, who are not allowed to board the next plane unless they are examined before travel and ensure their results are negative, and then re-examined when they arrive in the Sultanate and are quarantined in accordance with health controls and re-examined for a third time on the last day of the quarantine period,” the statement said.

The following statistics show the number and category of passengers arrived from India on flights operated between the June 7 to 13.
Oman Air: 14 flights, a total of 58 passengers arrived of which 14 citizens, 44 foreign passengers.
SalamAir: Only one flight, a total of two Omani passengers arrived.
Air India: 8 flights, a total of 34 passengers, including one citizen, and 33 expat passengers.
Indian Air Express: 11 flights, a total of 47 passengers, including two citizens, and 45 expat passengers.
