MUSCAT: Oman’s Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has warned private health institutions not to exploit the pandemic situation by overcharging people for COVID-19 test.
In a statement issued, CPA said the private health institutions must oblige “with rates announced by the Ministry of Health.”
The statement comes after reports of some health institutions charging people high tariff for COVID-19 PCR tests.

“We would like to inform all that the authority is following the test’s prices in the institutions that the ministry identified to do it,” CPA said in the statement.
“The authority recalls the private health institutions for the necessity to oblige with the prices that Ministry of Health identifies under its announcement number 16/ 2021 which ensures the health service receiver’s right in non-exploiting him due to the exceptional circumstances,” the statement added.
