MUSCAT: The Supreme Committee has eased restrictions on many activities in the country including permitting 100 worshippers in mosques for five daily prayers, gyms to reopen at 50% capacity and events to restart.
In a decision issued on Wednesday, the committee said Friday prayers will continue to be banned. Shopping malls, shops, restaurants and cafes are allowed to have 50% capacity, while children under the age of 12 are allowed to enter.
Wedding halls, and exhibitions can be held
“provided that the attendance rate does not exceed 30% of its capacity and does not exceed 300 people in all cases for halls with a large capacity,” the statement said.

The committee also allowed Omanis and residents of the Sultanate working in neighboring countries to move daily across the land borders to perform their work, with the necessity of presenting proof of their work from the employer.
Public Parks, and beaches are allowed to reopen
“with an emphasis on preventing gatherings of any kind in them, and adhering to all preventive measures and requirements.”
Group sports activities are also allowed to practice in open spaces, while adhering to all preventive measures and requirements.
“Swimming pools, gyms and their facilities in hotel establishments for guests and for members are allowed to open while adhering to all preventive measures and requirements,” the statement added.
