Hospital in Oman issues statement after woman dies following liposuction

In a statement issued by GSH explained that the surgeon who performed the operation is not affiliated with the hospital.

MUSCAT: Gulf Specialized Hospital (GSH) has issued a statement after a citizen died due to a medical error.

Omani citizen Munira Al Muqbali died after she underwent liposuction at the hospital which led to a widespread outcry on social media.

In a statement issued by GSH explained that the surgeon who performed the operation is not affiliated with the hospital, but rather “rents the hospital’s operating rooms, and he works for another private institution.”

The hospital said that the matter was referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures. The clarification from the hospital comes in response to an interview with the deceased’s husband Ghaith Al-Shibli on
Hala FM radio, where he confirmed that his wife decided to undergo liposuction in the Sultanate, and they went to a private hospital in Muscat.
