Low pressure: Heavy rainfall expected to hit Oman

MUSCAT: A trough of low pressure (AlAtaya) is expected to affect Oman from Friday 7th May
till Monday 10th May 2021, the National Multi hazard Early Warning Centre said.

According to Oman Met, varying intensity rain and occasionally thundershowers associated with fresh to very fast winds and hail will hit over Musandam governorate and Al Hajar Mountain and “surroundings extend to the coastal  areas of North Al Batinah , South Al Batinah , Muscat and South Al Sharqiya and flash floods (wadis) are expected and chances of blowing dust and flying unstable objects due to wind .”

“Whereas , sea state will be slight moderate along most the coastal areas with maximum wave height of 1.5 meters. With changes of rough sea stage during thunderstorms,” the statement from Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said.

“Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precautions during rain and wadis and to check the visibility and sea state before sailing and follow the issued weather bulletins and reports,” CAA added.
