Nearly 70,000 expats applied for exit scheme, over 48,000 left Oman

The government have extended the exit scheme until June 30.

MUSCAT: Nearly 70,000 expat workers with expired work permits have registered to leave Oman, while more than 45,000 expats have left the country, Ministry of Labour said.

In a report published, the Ministry said 69,467 expats applied for the exit scheme, while 48,863 workers left the country until the end of March 31, 2021. The government have extended the exit scheme until June 30.

Meanwhile, 617 illegal workers were arrested by the end of March.
