MUSCAT: Ministry of Labour has created about 10,000 new jobs for Omani citizens within three months, the country’s Minister said.
Speaking to Oman TV in an interview, His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Said Ba’owain said only 10 per cent of expatriate workers were replaced with Omanis, while the rest are employed in minimal jobs. “Ministry of Labour is not only concerned with employment, but is also the enabler and regulator of the sector” the Minister said.
Earlier in January, the Minister had said 80 per cent of the registered job seekers will be absorbed in both private and public sectors within the next two years. “Economic growth will drive employment fastest,” he added.
